The Hertz Corporation Assistant VAT Accountant - Italian Speaking in Dublin, Ireland

General Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail oriented, self-motivated Italian speaking Assistant VAT Accountant, to join our Tax department. The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Tax team with preparing VAT returns, indirect Tax filings/obligations and to ensure all VAT accounts are accurately reported. This role will assist the Tax team, supporting day to day activities for Hertz Europe entities. We are looking for someone who can effectively communicate and collaborate in a positive and professional manner with all relevant parties. This role will report directly to the Manager, Indirect Tax based in our European Shared Services Centre

   

The Role

  • Preparation of reports from various systems to support the VAT returns and certain other indirect tax obligations

  • Assist in preparing the reconciliation of VAT accounts according to Hertz accounting policy

  • Support the Indirect Tax team in all queries/issues

  • Ensuring indirect tax compliance is in adherence with the market legislation, support internal control and SOX compliance activities related to indirect tax

  • Involvement in month-end process under US GAAP accounting

  • Finding and working on new opportunities for implementing indirect tax processes

  • Ad-hoc duties required to support the reporting process, as directed by the Tax team

  • Evaluate reporting process and make recommend actions to improve the process. Implement agreed changes and continue to review to ensure optimal procedures are in place

  • Ensure proper execution of internal controls and procedures

  • Assistance with problem solving in respect of all VAT, custom & excise, corporation tax, and any other tax related matters as required

  • General admin duties as required

Your Profile: What you’ll need for a great journey

  • Accounting/Finance qualification desirable

  • Experience working in a VAT/Tax team within a large organisation

  • Fluent in Italian essential

  • Experience of Accounting systems (Oracle) is beneficial

  • Flexible with the ability to work under pressureExperience with creating, managing budgets/accruals. Experience in a similar role a plus.

  • Excellent social, oral and written communication skills to partner with team members as well as external advisors.

  • Strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, preferably advanced in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail is essential

  • Comfortable working independently with good initiative whilst also working collaboratively as part of the team.
